Student Moves
Student moves in Leicestershire connect halls, shared houses, family homes and storage across the county and farther afield. Whether the journey starts in Loughborough or another county address, we help with boxes, bags and agreed furniture. Newby Removals was established in 2011 and has its head office in Leicester.
Student move preparation checklist
| Stage | What to prepare |
|---|---|
| Before your enquiry | Decide which belongings are travelling and whether they are going to accommodation, home or storage. |
| Before booking | Agree the moving date, key handover and carrying help included. |
| Before moving day | Pack manageable labelled boxes and keep keys, documents and valuables with you. |
Build a clear list of your belongings
Grouping boxes, suitcases, bags and larger items helps keep a student move organised. For a shared journey, labelling each person’s belongings and destination helps avoid confusion when unloading.
The vehicle and carrying help are arranged for the agreed load. We plan the move around access to your room, whether it is in halls, a shared house or another property.
Check your accommodation arrangements
- Confirm your key collection or checkout time with your accommodation provider.
- Ask where a van can load and whether a parking space or unloading slot must be booked.
- Check lift availability and any restrictions on moving through the building.
- Have a contact number ready for the person meeting us at each address.
Busy changeover dates can limit availability, so contact us once you know your dates. If you need a short-notice move, ask and we will check the available vehicles and team.
Pack for easy loading and unloading
Use manageable boxes rather than one very heavy box. Seal them securely and label them with your name and destination room. Protect fragile items, empty open containers and keep valuables, medication, keys and important documents with you.
If belongings are going into storage, the storage booking and access remain your responsibility. A confirmed storage slot helps us coordinate the transport and unloading.
Student-moving questions
Can you move a few boxes and bags?
Yes. Our Man and Van Leicestershire service is suitable for many smaller student moves, including a few boxes and bags.
Can you move furniture too?
Yes. Agreed furniture can travel with your boxes and bags, with the moving help arranged for the load. Any dismantling or additional handling must be agreed before moving day.
Can you take my belongings to another city?
Yes, we offer local and nationwide transport between student accommodation, home and storage, with the route and timing confirmed before booking.
Can I change the load later?
Contact us if items are added or removed so the quote, vehicle and carrying arrangements reflect the final inventory. Unwanted-item disposal is assessed separately using dedicated waste vehicles.
